Sport news: Tomori happy at Milan after Tottenham and Juventus transfer rejection… see more

Milan defender Fikayo Tomori has said he is “happy” at the club and “until the last day I wear this shirt, I will give everything for Milan.”

Speaking via the Gazzetta dello Sport, Tomori explained, in Italian, that “I have always said I was happy here” and his dedication to the club “will never change”, after rumours in January linked him strongly with a move to Tottenham Hotspur or Juventus.

Juventus were in talks with the defender before Spurs emerged as favourites to sign the Englishman. However, the former Chelsea defender decided to stay at Milan and has reiterated this commitment with his latest comments.

According to Gazzetta’s reports, new Milan head coach Massimiliano Allegri is a big fan of the defender. The reports suggest that Allegri sees Tomori as a Rossoneri equivalent of Andrea Barzagli, who served Allegri for a long time in his 3-at-the-back system at Juventus.

Therefore, when Allegri opts for a 3-man defence instead of a 4-3-3, the centre-back could be an important player to have in the squad. The coach likes the player and the player likes the club: the futures of Tomori and Milan seem to remain intertwined.
