Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is confident that Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi remain “100% focused” ahead of their clash with Liverpool in the Community Shield on Sunday.
Guehi is entering the final year of his contract, which may force Palace to decide whether to cash in this summer rather than risk losing him on a free next year.
Both Liverpool and Newcastle United have held a long-term interest in securing the 25-year-old’s services.
Eze’s future has been a constant source of speculation over the past two seasons, with Arsenal and Tottenham among those keen on the attacking midfielder.
Glasner could not provide any assurances that the pair will be at Crystal Palace beyond this summer but has not questioned their focus.
“It’s part of success,” he said. “If you are successful, it means that the players perform very well.
“When you are at Crystal Palace, this is what happens. Many bigger clubs are interested in your players. We had this last year, especially with Michael [Olise]. It just shows that we have great players in the squad.
“High-talented players, and they did very well for Crystal Palace, and then it’s normal that there are rumours and some speculation.
“But if you watch the training sessions, they are 100% focused on Crystal Palace and then we will see what happens.”
When asked if he thinks Eze will stay at Palace beyond this summer, Glasner simply replied: “He will play on Sunday, definitely.
“Marc as well. Marc will captain the team.”
The Palace boss also says the club need to make new signings this summer, having so far brought in left-back Borna Sosa and goalkeeper Walter Benitez.
“In a situation like this now, we definitely need two more players – one at the back and one in the attack,” he said.
“Everywhere else, we have good numbers, good quality and good competition – players challenging each other.”
