Pep Guardiola was full of praise for Tijjani Reijnders after his outstanding Manchester City debut in which he racked up two goal contributions.
Last month, Reijnders said goodbye to Milan in favour of a new experience in the Premier League, in what could become a club-record sale for the Rossoneri. He joined Guardiola at Manchester City, and made a good first impression at the Club World Cup.
Reijnders marked his Premier League debut for City with a goal and an assist. After the 4-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers, manager Guardiola had plenty of positive words for the Dutchman.
“A really good performance. A lovely lad who has made his mark from day one. With his speed he can help in midfield. He was exceptional at AC Milan and with the national team,” he said (via MilanNews).
“We knew he would be a key signing for Manchester City in the coming years; he is one of the best signings in the club’s history.”
Milan have had to embark on yet another midfield rebuild, their second in three years after the sale of Sandro Tonali. Samuele Ricci, Luka Modric and Ardon Jashari have arrived, with the hope being that the department as a collective improves.
