Fbs: Eberechi Eze responds when asked what position he wants to play…see more

Eberechi Eze should make his Arsenal debut against Liverpool at Anfield next weekend.

Unfortunately for Arsenal fans in attendance at the Emirates Stadium, Eberechi Eze wasn’t signed in time to play against Leeds United.

Instead, Eze was watching Arsenal from the stands, and he will have surely been impressed by his new side’s five-star display.

Along with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Jurrien Timber, Max Dowman was excellent for Arsenal, and there’s clearly so much to be excited about in N5.

And when it comes to Eze, a lot of Arsenal fans will already be imagining where the former Crystal Palace star will fit into Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Unfortunately, both Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka suffered injuries against Leeds on Saturday – they’ll both be doubts against Liverpool this coming Sunday.

And perhaps that might open the door for Eze to start immediately, even if he’s only just integrating into first team training at his new club.

But with that in mind, Eze’s words in a wholesome interview with Ian Wright are now interesting to consider.

Shared by Arsenal’s club website, Eze sat down for a chat with Wright, who also joined Arsenal from Palace during his prime years.

And during the interview, Wright did ask Eze what position he’d like to play at Arsenal ideally.

At Palace, the 27-year-old predominantly played as a 10, but there’s a strong feeling that he could be a left winger at Arsenal.

Wright asked: “Was there talks about position, or anything like that?”

Eze then replied: “As long as I’m on the pitch, as long as I’m given the opportunity to play and to express myself in that environment, then it doesn’t matter where I’m playing.

“But, of course, he has ideas and things that he wants, but for me, I’m free, man, I’m free.”

Of course, Eze’s response is very fitting in terms of how grateful he seems for his opportunity at Arsenal.

In a similar vein, Noni Madueke was also excited to sign for Arsenal from Chelsea this summer.

And perhaps Madueke and Eze might ultimately play either side of Gyokeres against Liverpool on Sunday – a whole new look front three for Arteta this season.

Madueke has spoken about Eze’s arrival already, he can’t wait to play with his fellow England international in red.

And whilst it might be harsh to leave Gabriel Martinelli out of the starting eleven again, Eze could make a real difference on the left at Anfield, when keeping hold of the ball could be difficult.

Eze has mercurial qualities on the ball, and the likes of Declan Rice will no doubt also be extremely excited to see a good friend join the club, one he’s often praised over the years.
