With Eberechi Eze sealing a move to Arsenal, he is the type of maverick who could help the Gunners steal a march on both Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League title race.
Manchester City were previously interested in signing Eze and they will need no reminding of the potential impact he could have at the Emirates Stadium.
However, Pep Guardiola’s men have plenty of weapons in their armoury that could also spearhead them towards winning the title for the first time since 2024.
Guardiola is motivated this campaign and City’s latest 2-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur would have further stoked the fire within him to have a season to remember.
With Liverpool and Arsenal adding match-winners to their respective squads such as Florian Wirtz and Eberechi Eze, Manchester City will have to return to their best and bounce back to winning ways against Brighton.
However, Pep Guardiola praised Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki, two players who could also be difference-makers for City over the next few years.
Speaking to England’s official in-house media, Eze reserved special praise for former Manchester City right-back Kyle Walker by naming him as his toughest opponent.
“Probably Kyle, he’s just fast and strong so you need to think of different ways to distract him and cause him problems. I try to just run out of his area and draw him into funny places, but he’s a top defender.”
Walker, who Manchester City sold for £5 million to Burnley is one of the best right-backs in Premier League history and it comes as no surprise that Eze found it difficult to go toe-to-toe with him.
However, the former Crystal Palace attacker does not have the best record against Manchester City.
In nine games, the Englishman has won just once, drawn two and lost six out of nine matches.
However, Eze registered two goals and an assist in these fixtures but Manchester City will be hoping he struggles against them in an Arsenal shirt.
