Alessandro Costacurta believes that Milan star Rafael Leao is undroppable when fit and available, and says that fellow Rossoneri striker Santiago Gimenez ‘reminds me of Parma’s Hernan Crespo’.
The Rossoneri legend spoke in-depth to La Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published on Tuesday morning.
Costacurta feels that Allegri is blessed with quality attacking options in depth with their current roster of Leao, Christian Pulisic, Christopher Nkunku and Santiago Gimenez. One of them, though, he feels is undroppable when fully fit.
“For me, you can never leave someone like Leao out. But I would push him now, either give answers or the others will play. When paired with Pulisic, they can hurt any defence,” Costacurta told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
He went on to explain why Gimenez reminds him of Crespo during his Parma days.
“Having such a strong department guarantees competition for places: Nkunku is strong and Gimenez is also interesting.
“He reminds me of Parma’s Crespo, even if Santi has this problem with scoring goals. He’s playing very well, he stretches and takes on opponents, he knows how to link. Aside from the superstars we’ve already mentioned, he’s been among the most positive members of this team.
“And, as Ancelotti said of Hernand: ‘If you create chances, the goals will come sooner or later’.”
