AC Milan are among the clubs who are interested in exploring a deal to sign Dayot Upamecano on a free transfer from Bayern Munich.
According to PianetaMilan, it seems that Milan have joined the queue of clubs that are keen on signing Upamecano in the 2026 summer transfer window. His contract with Bayern Munich is expiring, and discussions are underway regarding a renewal, but it is not a given.
The Frenchman is well aware that many top European clubs are interesting in him. Above all, Real Madrid are undecided whether to focus on him or another free agent, Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté. Newcastle United like Upamecano, as do Milan’s city rivals Inter.
It could be a Derby della Madonnina transfer market duel for the centre-back, who the Rossoneri were linked with when he played at RB Leipzig. However, it will not be easy for either side to match the demands.
In a video on his YouTube channel earlier this month, the journalist Fabrizio Romano spoke about the frenzy that could develop surrounding the 26-year-old because of the clubs interested.
“Bayern will have a new meeting with his agents, on his side they are very clear, they want an important salary and signing on fee,” Romano said.
“There are several clubs in the race for Upamecano, from England, from France, Spain, some big, big, big clubs all interested. Upamecano is very happy at Bayern, very happy with Kompany, but they need to reach an agreement financially.
“Several clubs are calling, the potential free agent bomb for Upamecano is a possibility. Competition is becoming serious and being attentive. Liverpool will be in the market for a defender in 2026, PSG and Real Madrid might be there as well.”
