While a lot of the hype surrounded Santiago Gimenez going into the Roma game, Tammy Abraham’s brace allowed him to take centre stage against his parent club.
As Calciomercato.com recall, the away fans at San Siro booed him on Wednesday night, especially after the two goals that helped Milan advance to the next round. Abraham heard it, and he did not like it: “They hurt me, because everyone knows what Roma fans meant to me.”
Before, the Englishman was considered Morata’s assistant or deputy, today he is the first alternative to Santiago Gimenez. Abraham knows he doesn’t have a starting spot, but in these months his performance will be kept under observation by the management and coach.
Having arrived on loan as part of an exchange with Alexis Saelemaekers, it is not excluded that at the end of the season Milan could sit down to talk with the Giallorossi management to try to get him on a permanent basis.
It is unlikely that the Belgian winger, who Conceiçao likes, will be included in the deal. The Portuguese coach is studying him from afar and would like to bring Saelemaekers back to base in 2025-26 to keep him.
The main obstacle linked to Abraham’s possible permanent stay at Milan is linked to his salary of €6m net per season, considered too high at the moment. If the player were willing to reduce his salary – arriving at around €3m – then it could be an idea for the summer.
