Another exciting weekend in the Premier League has left the top four in a tight squeeze, with Liverpool right in the thick of it.
The Reds didn’t quite manage to get back to winning ways after last weekend’s controversy at Tottenham, having been pegged back in a 2-2 draw with Brighton.
Nevertheless, Jürgen Klopp’s side is challenging for the top at this early stage, which is certainly more than can be said about any stage of last season.
Tottenham and Arsenal lead the way currently, with Liverpool three points back in fourth, while Manchester City lies just a point ahead in third following its defeat at the Emirates Stadium.
And, if reports in Italy are to be believed, the Gunners could well strengthen further in January with a sensational signing up front, with Gabriel Jesus as a bargaining chip. Meanwhile, Manchester United and Newcastle are both playing catch-up, and are reportedly interested in a player also linked with Liverpool.

Arsenal could swap Gabriel Jesus for Victor Osimhen
Arsenal could land a sensational swap deal for Napoli star Victor Osimhen, according to Calciomercato.
The Italian publication claims that Gabriel Jesus has been shortlisted as one of three forwards to replace Osimhen should the Nigerian leave the club. Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and Lille’s Jonathan David have also been suggested as targets, although it’s suggested that Osimhen could be offered in a player-exchange deal for Jesus.
The strip sees Liverpool wear purple for the first time since the 2018/19 season. Following on from the iconic Red and remake of a 1996/96 classic, the third kit features a purple ripple pattern with black sleeve cuffs, collarbone inserts, side panelling with matching shorts and purple rippple socks.
The report suggests that Chiesa could end up leaving Juventus during the next transfer window. It is claimed that United and Newcastle both admire the winger, along with Bayern Munich and several clubs from Saudi Arabia. Liverpool has previously been linked to the Italian winger, who is valued at around $52m (£43m/€50m).
