Arsenal will reportedly rival Liverpool for Fluminense star Andre Trindade, with the Reds long-term admirers of the midfielder.
According to journalist Thiago Ferreira, ‘Arsenal are interested’ in signing the 22-year-old, who this summer was strongly linked with a move to Liverpool.
With Fluminense in the Copa Libertadores during the window, though, the Brazilian club were unwilling to let their star player in Andre leave, even for a reported price of £34m.
However, this January is set to be a different story entirely, with Andre fully expected to leave Fluminese for a move to Europe, with Arsenal now rivalling Liverpool for the youngster.
The Gunners are no strangers to signing players straight from Brazil, with star winger Gabriel Martinelli brought over to north London in 2019 when he was just a teenager.
And Mikel Arteta could now be ready to sign another Brazilian talent in Andre, a deal that would be seen as Liverpool as a massive blow to their summer plans.
Andre’s stock is on the rise with each passing week it feels like, and for Liverpool, they can’t allow Arsenal to beat them to the midfielder’s signature.
The Brazilian is a dream signing for the Anfield side in January, with Liverpool still light in numbers in central midfield after this summer’s business.
Indeed, Arsenal will be appealing for Andre, yet Liverpool could be an even better destination for the youngster, who could become a superstar at Anfield in years to come.
