It has been an emotional weekend for Manchester United after club icon Sir Bobby Charlton sadly passed away on Saturday – before the Red Devils secured a hard-fought win at Sheffield United.
An outpouring of tributes for Charlton have flooded in to start a week which will be dominated by the club remembering arguably English football’s greatest ever player – who won the World Cup with England, European Cup ( Champions League ) with United and the Ballon d’Or crown.
Meanwhile, United have recorded back-to-back Premier League wins while Sir Jim Ratcliffe ‘s pursuit of a £1.4billion deal to purchase 25 percent of the club continues to take shape. Here’s a round-up of the latest news from Old Trafford for Monday.
Casemiro has United doubts
Casemiro is starting to have regrets over his move to Old Trafford a year ago – when he phoned John Murtough to inform United of his determination to join the club.
Casemiro joined United in a £70million deal last summer from Real Madrid – where he won four Champions League crowns. He has helped the Red Devils end their six-year trophy drought with the EFL Cup title, while also reaching the FA Cup final and recording a top three league finish.
However, the Brazilian’s form has suffered this season and the additions of Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount have altered his midfield role. Having missed the win over Sheffield United with a foot injury and being suspended for this week’s Champions League clash, reports are speculating over his long-term future.
