TEAM NEWS

Liverpool’s Andy Robertson will be out for up to three months following surgery on his injured shoulder.

Curtis Jones serves the final match of his three-game suspension, while Stefan Bajcetic, Ben Doak and Thiago Alcantara are all still out.

Nottingham Forest forwards Taiwo Awoniyi, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Divock Origi remain on the sidelines.

Danilo, Felipe and Nuno Tavares have trained this week, but this game may come too soon for them.

Anthony Elanga is doubtful because of illness. Head coach Steve Cooper has hinted the Swede may not be fit enough to start at Anfield.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

  • Liverpool are unbeaten in their previous 26 home games against Nottingham Forest in all competitions, a run dating back to a 2-0 defeat in February 1969.
  • Forest’s only point in their six Premier League visits to Anfield came in a goalless draw in February 1993, in Brian Clough’s final season in charge.
  • The last four encounters at Anfield have produced a total of 23 goals at an average of 5.8 per game, with 16 scored by Liverpool and seven for Forest.
  • The away side has failed to win any of the 12 Premier League meetings between these sides. Only Aston Villa against Queens Park Rangers has been played more often without producing a single away victory (14 matches in total).

Liverpool

  • This is the Merseysiders’ 1,200th Premier League match. Their first was a 1-0 away defeat against Nottingham Forest on 16 August 1992, courtesy of a goal by Teddy Sheringham.
  • The clean sheet against Everton last weekend was just their second in the league this season.
  • Their only defeat in their last 46 Premier League games at Anfield (W35, D10) was a 2-1 loss to Leeds in October 2022. They are unbeaten in 16 home league fixtures since then (W13, D3).
  • Liverpool have not lost a top-flight match at home against a team beginning with ‘N’ for 40 matches (W33, D7), last doing so in a 1-0 defeat by Norwich City in April 1994.
  • Mohamed Salah has scored or assisted in each of his last 13 league games at Anfield, scoring a total of 14 goals and assisting three more.
  • There have been five red cards in Liverpool’s nine Premier League matches this season (four for Liverpool, one for Everton’s Ashley Young).

Nottingham Forest

  • Forest have surrendered a two-goal lead twice this season, double the tally of the other 19 top-flight teams combined.
  • Steve Cooper’s side have dropped 32 points from winning positions since the start of last season, more than any other top-flight side.
  • After not drawing consecutive fixtures in any of their first 44 games back in the Premier League, they have shared the points in all three of their matches in October.
  • They are aiming to keep consecutive away clean sheets for the first time in the Premier League.
  • After this match, Forest will have played away league games at the Emirates, Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, the Etihad and Anfield this season.
  • They have failed to win any of the past eight Premier League games Taiwo Awoniyi did not play in (D4, L4).
