Manchester United fans are furious at the penalty decision that’s just gone against the Red Devils in the Manchester derby.
Rasmus Hojlund was deemed to have fouled Rodri in the penalty box by gripping onto the Spaniard – but it was rather soft.
The referee didn’t even bat an eyelid, but it was VAR who brought it back to give the Cityzens a pen which allowed them to go one goal to the good.
Angry Man Utd fans make penalty comparison
United fans are all rightly furious after the decision and are all making the same comparison to a decision made against Hojlund against Arsenal – which in fact wasn’t even checked.
‘That shouldn’t be a penalty if Hojlund wasn’t given one against Arsenal,’ another adds.
A third says: ‘Hojlund gets pulled back against Arsenal? Nothing Hojlund pulls Rodri back again City? Penalty. What’s the difference? This is getting ridiculous man I’m speechless.’
Another gives his insight: ‘Remember Hojlund being wrestled to the ground against Arsenal? The officiating in this country has to be rigged.’
The inconsistency of VAR is appalling. No one really knows anymore if a decision will be given.
It isn’t just United either – this is happening week in, week out across the Premier League, having huge implications on fixtures.
Either VAR needs to change, or the rules need to become clearer. It’s creating carnage out of the beautiful game.
