Liverpool are back in Europa League action as they face Ligue 1 outfit Toulouse at the Stadium TFC.
The Reds know a repeat of last month’s 5-1 victory over the French outfit will secure their place in the Europa League knockout rounds in early 2024. However, if other results in Group E go their way, Liverpool could top the four-team group tonight with all three points.
Jurgen Klopp will be without captain Virgil van Dijk and midfielders Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch, who are suffering from illness and injuries respectively.
Joe Cole’s pre-match thoughts
Speaking to TNT Sports just now, the former Liverpool man said: “I’m looking forward to seeing Alexis Mac Allister higher up the pitch for Liverpool.
“Since he came to the club he has been doing a dual role where he sometimes also plays as the dictator at the base of midfield.
“The group is done, Liverpool will undoubtedly qualify, and he is suspended at the weekend.
“Tonight he comes in to the team higher up so he is freed up to be a bit more forward thinking. He needs to go and get on the ball, maybe score a goal, just remind everyone what a good player he is.
“He can be the difference maker for them.”
