Will VAR prevent Liverpool from winning the Premier League? In light of the most recent dispute, legend issues a warning.

It is safe to say that VAR has once again become a bone of contention when it comes to the Premier League title race.

Liverpool ran out 2-0 winners at Burnley to send them back to the top of the table on Boxing Day but were left wanting more with two further goals, from Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott, controversially chalked off by referee Paul Tierney and the team at Stockley Park. Couple those decisions with Martin Odegaard’s non-handball in last weekend’s draw with title rivals Arsenal and it’s clear to see why players, pundits and supporters are continuing to question VAR. Manager Jurgen Klopp has not been one to shy away from sharing criticism of decisions made by VAR, admitting after the win at Turf Morr that it can be “really, really tough” when goals get taken away.

Liverpool are not the only club to feel aggrieved by VAR but with the race for the title looking as close as ever this season, will these decisions ultimately affect who will be crowned champions? Reds legend John Aldridge has raise concerns, stating in his recent ECHO column that VAR could make the difference between first and second – but do you agree? To get involved, use the widget below to tell us whether or not VAR will impact the title race.
