Prior to the AFCON, Mo Salah gets a haircut after being made fun of for his hairline.

Mohamed Salah has shown off his new haircut before the AFCON after football fans teased his hairline.

Salah was on the receiving end of unwanted attention during Liverpool’s New Year’s Day victory over Newcastle when fans teased his long hair. And Salah now appears to have responded to the comments by getting his haircut.

The Egyptian winger was spotted linking up with his national side sporting a sleek new look. One fans shared the image on social media with the caption: “He definitely saw them hairline memes from the Newcastle game!”

“His barber saw the memes and said I got you,” a second joked. While a third replied: “He definitely saw that bald pic…”

“He’s just been waiting to go Egypt gotta be loyal to your barber,” a fourth pointed out. And another added: “He’s looking for a transfer to Galatasaray next!”

Jurgen Klopp is facing a couple of months without his star man as he looks to capture the AFCON with Egypt. He will definitely miss four games – Sunday’s FA Cup third-round tie at Arsenal before their trip to Bournemouth in the Prem and both legs of their League Cup semi-final against Fulham.

However, if Egypt go deep into the tournament, as they did last time, the Reds will be without Salah until mid-February.

As a result, Klopp’s men could face crunch clashes with Chelsea and Arsenal without Salah in their side. Liverpool are only losing Salah to the tournament, Nottingham Forest will suffer the most – with five players scheduled to travel to the Ivory Coast.
