Liverpool’s winter break will soon be over. The Reds are set to be back in action this weekend as they resume their Premier League title challenge with a trip to Bournemouth.
The staggered break in England means there has been some action for Liverpool fans to keep up to date with, with both Manchester City and Aston Villa narrowing the gap at the top of the table. Jürgen Klopp’s side can open up a five-point lead when it travels to Bournemouth on Sunday though, albeit having played a game more than City.
There has been plenty happening off the field as well. Everton once again finds itself in trouble after its 10-point deduction earlier in the season, with the Toffees being charged again with a breach of the profit and sustainability rules alongside Nottingham Forest.
And of course, the ongoing saga around Kylian Mbappé’s future continues, with Liverpool continuing to be linked with a move for the Paris Saint-Germain superstar. Manchester United eyes up Michael Olise swap deal
Manchester United has discussed a potential swap deal with Crystal Palace for Michael Olise, according to ESPN. The report claims Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be offered up as part of any deal in the summer.
Liverpool and Chelsea are also said to be interested in Olise, who signed a four-year contract back in August after rejecting a move to Stamford Bridge. The French U21 international though is expected to be allowed to leave Palace as the London club plans a rebuild.
PSG could get $253m Kylian Mbappé boost
Paris Saint-Germain is struggling to persuade Kylian Mbappé to sign a new contract, but may be in for a huge financial boost if he leaves the French capital, according to The Mirror. Real Madrid is said to still be leading the race for his signature, while English clubs, including Liverpool, could try and lure him to the Premier League.
PSG could free up $253m (£200m/€232m) in the club’s budget should Mbappé leave in the summer. The Ligue 1 club would reportedly love to keep hold of the 25-year-old but is also looking at the situation as a chance for Luis Enrique to build a younger squad without superstar names.
