Manchester United fans have given their verdict on Anthony Martial being banished from the first-team squad as Erik ten Hag makes yet another big decision.
Jadon Sancho was exiled from the Manchester United squad by Erik ten Hag following the Englishman’s public rebuttal to the Dutchman’s comments about the 23-year-old’s training performances.
Now, Anthony Martial, who remains unavailable due to injury, has now been banished from the first team and a move away from the club for the Frenchman is surely in the offing.
Martial has had a lorry load of injury problems for the Red Devils this campaign and the club will not trigger the one-year extension in his contract so the former AS Monaco forward is free to leave the club in the summer.
The United fanbase are all in agreement about the Red Devils decision to banish the Frenchman from first-team training with the reason being down to the injury problems of the 28-year-old.
One fan was strong in his view of Martial’s absence: “He gets paid a lot of money to stay fit and play football and he’s failing at that. Should come with more consequences as he’s laughing in the face of others who have that dream to play for the club.”
Another fan agreed: “Yes (he should be sold) players having it too easy these last years has played a major role in the mess United are in right now.”
A third fan, however, seemed to encourage the club to stick together: “No (United made the wrong decision) in times like this stick by the players.”
One fan believes the injury line could be a cover for a move away from the club: “He obviously told him to find a new club in January and Martial has refused to leave.”
“Can’t understand how he is still a United player,” another fan said. “He simply has to leave in January,” a sixth fan claimed.
During this January transfer window, the Frenchman has been linked with a move to Turkey with Fenerbahce reportedly ready to offer £7 million for the striker.
One thing is clear, however, Ten Hag clearly doesn’t trust the forward and a move away from the club either in January or in the summer is almost nailed on.
It would be a sad way for the Frenchman’s time at Old Trafford to end after what was such a promising start. As with the case with nearly every signing the Red Devils have made, United are set to lose money on this 2015 investment.
