Tottenham have held talks with Club Brugge about a potential transfer and loan back deal for their talented 18-year-old attacker Antonio Nusa, football.london understands.
football.london has previously reported that there was a feeling around the club that Spurs would look to tie up a deal for the future during this January transfer window, as they have done to great success in previous summer windows for Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie.
Both of those young players have now become Premier League stars after seasons back on loan at Metz and Udinese respectively and both were rewarded with bumper long-term deals last month for the strides they have made at Tottenham. Now Spurs have earmarked Nusa as another 18-year-old who could follow a similar path.
Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, as well as other sides across Europe, have all shown interest in the versatile young Norway international in the past 12 months and it now appears that Tottenham are exploring the potential of a deal for a player who once described the Premier League as “the best and most beautiful competition in the world”.
Reports in Belgium have suggested that a deal for around £30million plus a loan back for the rest of the season would be enough to secure the highly-rated teenager. Spurs made initial payments of closer to £15million for both Sarr and Udogie so would likely be looking to load more of this deal into future payments dependent on Nusa’s success in the English game, although a reported failed £25million move by Chelsea last summer is likely to keep the fee at a certain level.
Those who know Nusa have told football.london that the teenager is a “humble” young player and there is a lot of excitement in Norway about how good he can become on the world stage. The youngster is reportedly keen to finish out this season with Brugge. The character of transfer targets is important to Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou and Nusa would tick the boxes for his temperament and work ethic, while the Norwegian’s adaptation to a new country at such a young age will also have been noted.
