The Sporting Lisbon defender has been linked with a move away from Portugal for what feels like forever, with the £52m-rated centre-back subject to interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.
And the Gunners were reportedly believed to be the favourites to sign Inacio, with Mikel Arteta keen to add to his defensive options this January among other positions.
However, according to Correio da Manha, Liverpool are now preparing a proposal to sign Inacio, with Jurgen Klopp a huge fan of the 22-year-old defender and what he could bring to the Reds.
With the Anfield side looking short in the centre-back position and in need of a long-term replacement for Joel Matip, Inacio could be a dream signing for Liverpool.
And with Arsenal focused on other positions in the transfer market, now could be the chance for Liverpool to make a massive statement in the January transfer window by signing Inacio.
Liverpool are clearly in need of a defensive signing this month if the Reds are to really push for the Premier League title this season.
And Inacio could not be a more perfect signing for Klopp’s side, with the Portuguese international an outstanding player for both the present and the future.
Moreover, signing Inacio eliminates the threat of Arsenal one day signing the centre-back, with the Gunners unlikely to move for the defender if he was to join Liverpool.
Whilst £52m is a massive outlay for a player, for Liverpool, the fee could be worth it for Inacio, who could one day marshall the Reds’ backline alongside Ibrahima Konate.
