Chelsea’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley Stadium will now kick off at 3pm on Sunday February 25 following consultation with the Metropolitan Police.

The game had initially been scheduled for 4.30pm but the police had recommended the final to kick off ‘no later than 3pm’ due to the fixture qualifying as a ‘high risk’ one.

In a statement sent to football.london last week, the Met Police said: “Preparations for the EFL Cup policing operation are underway following the conclusion of the two semi-finals and we are working with partners including the Wembley Stadium, local authority and EFL on agreeing the kick off time. Our partners are aware this match qualifies as a ‘high-risk’ fixture and in accordance with national guidance from the UK Football Policing Unit, this fixture should kick off no later than 3pm.”

It has now been confirmed the showpiece between Mauricio Pochettino’s men and Jurgen Klopp’s side will now kick-off at 3pm. An EFL Spokesperson said: “Following representations from the Metropolitan Police (MPS), the local safety advisory group has determined the 2024 Carabao Cup Final will now kick-off at 3pm.

“Having previously scheduled the usual 4.30pm kick-off time with Wembley and Sky Sports, it is disappointing to note the change at this late stage.”

Fans who want to see the Blues in action at Wembley can do so by purchasing tickets. Chelsea have been allocated 31,939 tickets and have been given the west side of the national stadium.

Supporters who are part of the UK away scheme will be able to purchase their tickets from Friday February 2 until Monday February 5. One ticket will be sold to Chelsea season ticket holders on a loyalty-point basis. Any remaining tickets will go on sale to members, subject to loyalty points.

The price for an adult ticket ranges from £41-£150. The 17-21 ticket category is priced at £30.75-£112.50, while the 16 and under and 65+ category will cost between £20.50-£75.
