Conor Gallagher is reportedly reluctant to leave Chelsea this January while he is playing regularly at Stamford Bridge. The England midfielder has been linked with a surprise exit from the west Londoners, with Tottenham keen on a deal.
Spurs could reportedly made a late bid for Gallagher in the final 48 hours of the transfer window. The departure of an academy graduate would represent pure profit for Chelsea and help them pay off expenditure.
The north Londoners attempted to sign the 23-year-old in the summer but a move did not materialise. A pursuit in January would reportedly be subject to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leaving Spurs, a move that the midfielder’s lawyer has ruled out.
Gallagher has featured prominently for Chelsea this season, playing in 28 matches across all competitions. He has even been given the captaincy while Reece James and Ben Chilwell have been absent through injury.
That is why Gallagher is reluctant to depart his boyhood club, the Evening Standard reports. Regular matches for Chelsea will place him in strong contention to make the England squad for Euro 2024.
