Jurgen Klopp’s reaction to Darwin Nunez’s penalty miss for Liverpool against Chelsea was spotted by the TV cameras.

The Reds were hosting Chelsea at Anfield in the Premier League clash on Wednesday night. Liverpool went into the game one point clear at the top of the table after Arsenal defeated Nottingham Forest 24 hours earlier.

Liverpool took a 2-0 lead into the half-time break at Anfield, as Klopp’s team took control of the game. A Diogo Jota strike and Conor Bradley’s first goal for the club gave the Reds a two-goal advantage.

There was the chance for a third goal before half-time when referee Paul Tierney pointed to the penalty spot. Jota was fouled by Benoit Badiashile, and with Mohamed Salah unavailable it was left to Nunez to take the spot-kick.

However, Nunez’s effort struck the right post and briefly led to a Chelsea counter-attack before it was dealt with by the Liverpool defence. The TV replays from TNT Sports eventually showed Klopp’s reaction to the penalty miss from Nunez.

Klopp was standing facing towards the Main Stand at Anfield, away from the pitch, as he traditionally does whenever Liverpool get a penalty. Waiting for the crowd to cheer Nunez’s goal, Klopp instead appeared to be startled as he quickly turned around to see what happened as the spot-kick struck the woodwork.

The second half saw Liverpool continue their dominance in the game and eventually took a 3-0 lead with a head from Dominik Szoboszlai. Chelsea soon got a goal back in the contest with a striker from half-time substitute Christopher Nkunku on his return from injury. Luis Diaz then put Liverpool 4-1 in front with an assist from Nunez.
