NFC East coaching crossover is still a thing. It’s kind of hard to keep up right now, but the department rotates coaches like crazy.
Dan Quinn left the Dallas Cowboys to become head coach of the Washington Commanders and took the staff with him, and Kellen Moore is still the offensive coordinator but is now with the Philadelphia Eagles (as is Doug Nussmeier). So far, the only team not really involved in this mess has been the New York Giants, but that changed on Tuesday. ESPN reports that the G’s blocked the Cowboys’ request to interview defensive line coach Andre Patterson.
Patterson previously served as an assistant to new Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer when he was the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. The Giants have now denied the Cowboys’ request to meet with defensive line coach Andre Patterson, who was the defensive line coach and defensive coordinator at Minnesota under Mike Zimmer.

While job interviews with promotions cannot be avoided, lateral moves can. For example, the Cowboys turned down Dan Quinn’s request to interview both Lunda Wells and Al Harris for their new hires.Joe Whitt has followed Quinn to the majors, and he’s not alone, as it was announced Tuesday that Sharrif Floyd is also headed there.#Commanders hire #Cowboys assistant Sharrif Floyd as DL assistant coach as former #Vikings DT standout moves on.
Floyd was with Dan Quinn in Dallas.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 13, 2024Interestingly, Floyd played for Mike Zimmer’s Vikings and whether or not the Dallas coaching staff was a possibility will never know.
