London (AP) — Timo Werner, a Germany attacker, will remain on loan at Tottenham from Leipzig for the rest of the season.
Spurs confirmed the deal on Tuesday, saying they had the option to sign Werner on a permanent basis.
The 28-year-old Werner spent the second part of the recently concluded season on loan at Tottenham, where he was a regular starter and scored twice in 13 Premier League games.
A hamstring injury kept him out of Tottenham’s final few games, as the team finished fifth and qualified for the Europa League.
Werner, who played for Chelsea from 2020 to 2022, was not picked in Germany’s European Championship roster.
The Australian has done an outstanding job in a short period of time, and his impact can be felt both on and off the field.
He immediately lifted the club with his upbeat attitude, forming a strong link between the players and the fans.
The result was seen on the pitch, with every player giving their all under him.
The veteran players improved, and the new signings all made an immediate effect.
The club went on a 10-game unbeaten streak and began to be spoken about as prospective title candidates.
However, they were plagued by a series of injuries that derailed their season, ending in a fifth-place finish in the Premier League and narrowly losing out on Champions League participation.

Tottenham achieved steady success under Pochettino, finishing in the top four of the Premier League and, most famously, reaching the Champions League final in 2019, where they lost to Liverpool.
However, we are currently in the Postecoglou era, and there are only great developments to look forward to under him.
If and when Postecoglou leaves, and Pochettino is available, we can explore his return.
