Arguably, the Boston Celtics’ journey to the NBA Finals has been one of the simpler ones in recent memory.
They took against the Miami Heat without Jimmy Butler in the opening round. Against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen both missed time. Tyrese Haliburton missed the final two games of the East Finals against the Indiana Pacers.
However, the Celtics accomplished all of this without one of their essential players. After sustaining a right calf strain in Game 4 against the Heat, Kristaps Porzingis was sidelined for the remainder of the Celtics’ Eastern Conference campaign.
Though Porzingis is scheduled to make his comeback in Thursday, June 6th’s Game 1 of the Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, he provided a concerning health update in an interview on Tuesday.
If Porzingis was running pain-free right now, a reporter wanted to know. After pausing about ten seconds, Porzingis responded, “Um, yes.”
Noa Dalzell published the interview online.
Porzingis seemed unsure about his statement and paused for a long time before responding, which has many fans worried. They shared their reactions on social media.
