While supporters celebrated with their heroes, a horrible accident occurred in East London. Minentle Noqhamka, a 20-year-old University of Fort Hare student, was sent to hospital after an accident with an armored 4×4 personnel carrier.
“She was knocked by a police nyala on her legs,” Minentle’s father, Sithembiso, claimed at the time.
“Her left leg was amputated in the hospital.” It’s incredibly sad for our family. We’re still coming to terms with this.”
On Wednesday, Minentle’s family confirmed that she died in the hospital.
