My dear Milan: I leave with a smil – Simic expresses thanks to Milan

Jan-Carlo Simic thanked the AC Milan fans among others as he bid farewell to the club, having opted to join Anderlecht for the next chapter of his career.

Having arrived from Stuttgart a couple of years ago, it became clear that Simic was a talent that Milan wanted to lean on for the future. He ended up captaining the Primavera side and often played like a defender more mature than his years suggested.

In fact, the 19-year-old made his first team debut last December at a time when there was a crisis in the rearguard, and he scored against Monza off the bench while making six appearances in total under Stefano Pioli.

However, his deal was set to expire in June 2025 and amid stories of a difficult renewal it emerged that Anderlecht had found an agreement with Milan over a permanent transfer, something which was confirmed not long ago.

Simic posted a statement on his Instagram in which he expressed thanks to everyone connected with Milan for their part in his short but sweet spell.

“My dear Milan,

“It’s a moment full of deep emotions for me. Saying goodbye is never easy. It was a wonderful and unforgettable experience with many joys but also delusions.

“This path made me grow as a footballer and as a man. Certain is that I leave with a big smile because I realised my dream of making my professional debut and scoring in Serie A with the Rossoneri shirt.

“I thank all my team-mates, coaches and collaborators with whom I shared small and huge moments. However, the ones I THANK the most is you Milan fans, for the love you showed me and for always making me feel at home.

“All of you will always be in my heart. Thank you AC Milan, I will always be one of you.”
