SAD NEWS: Alabama had four sacks due to……see more

During Wednesday’s Alabama football practice, the Crimson Tide’s first of preseason camp, safety Malachi Moore’s little brother was in awe.

“Bruh,” Ayden Moore said to Malachi during a water break.

“Welcome to college football,” the older Moore recalled saying back.

Ayden is a walk-on for the Crimson Tide this season, after playing his high school football at Hewitt-Trussville. Malachi was one of Alabama’s permanent captains in 2023, and the graduate safety looks to be a key part of Alabama’s defense this season.

When it came time for the younger Moore to choose a school, he opted to join his brother in Tuscaloosa.

“We just thought it would be the best decision for him to come down here and learn under me, under our program,” Malachi said Thursday. “See what it takes to be a champion, not only on the field but in life.”

Ayden, a linebacker, is listed at 6-foot-2, 230 pounds. He had 47 tackles for Hewitt-Trussville last season, 26 of them solo, according to Maxpreps.

He also had four sacks.

“It’s very cool man, just to see him out there going through the same kind of things we’re going through,” Malachi said. “We’ve never been in school together, so this is our first time being in school together playing on the same team, something I’ve always wanting to do.”

Alabama continues preseason camp on Saturday. The Crimson Tide opens the season on Aug. 31 against Western Kentucky.
