The Boston Celtics brought all but two players back from their championship team last season: Svi Mykhailiuk and Oshae Brissett. After the team drafted Baylor Scheierman and extended Sam Hauser‘s contract, Mykhailiuk’s return seems unlikely. However, the door remains open for Brissett to return to Boston in free agency.
Earlier in the offseason, the forward opted out of his $2.46 million player option. Over a month into free agency, however, Brissett is still unsigned. In his most recent YouTube video on his channel, BrissyTV, Brissett opened up about his free agency. The 26-year-old revealed that he is “talking to some teams” and is eyeing more playing time. However, Brissett also said a return to Boston is not fully out of the picture.
Last season was Brissett’s first with the Celtics. Despite not playing a major role on the team, Celtics fans grew to love Brissett for his high-energy playstyle. On the year, he averaged 3.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.
Currently, the Celtics have one roster spot remaining. However, according to The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach, the team will likely keep that spot open heading into the regular season.
