Former Texas defensive tackle T’vondre Sweat is proud to be labeled a “mama’s boy.”
Sweat was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Shortly after signing his rookie contract, Sweat began the quest of surprising his mom with her dream home.
Sweat’s mother, Lashunda Ross, received the surprise of a lifetime on Friday. Ross was given the keys to a home in Houston, where she was living in an apartment prior.
Although Sweat is in Tennessee for training camp, he delivered a heartfelt video message to his mom when she received the keys to the home. “I just want to thank you a lot for all you have done for me,” Sweat said.
“I can’t be more thankful for a mom like you. Everyone in the world already knows you’re special to me. I just want to say: I love you, I love you, I love you. I want to thank you for everything you’ve done for me since I was a little kid with my other two brothers.”
Sweat often beams with pride when discussing what his mom means to him. “”My mom, she’s special. I love her to death, and I respect her so much. She’s a very, very, very strong woman, and she’s sacrificed so much. I can’t say in words how much I appreciate my mom being in my life, so I’m happy I can do this for her. And, for all the guys out there: Love your moms, man, because you only get one.”
