An agreement has been reached with Wolves over the signing of Pedro Neto, with personal terms already agreed.
It has been reported by Fabrizio Romano that the deal will cost approximately £51m, and he will surely be competing straight away for minutes on the left of the attack.
Neto has proven himself during his time at Wolves to be an extremely dangerous winger, who has caused real problems to Chelsea in the past, as well as a number of other big teams.
One of those was Tottenham back in 2021 when Jose Mourinho was in charge, with his comments after the game being very complimentary of his countryman.
He said to TalkSPORT: “He is very fast. Wolves do fantastic work in the selection of the profile of their players. They know what they want, they choose a profile of player adapted to the qualities of the team.
“We had 65 per cent of the ball and we almost double their number of passes, but they are very fast.
“Adama Traore, Pedro Neto, Diogo Jota, Daniel Podence, they are all very, very fast and was impossible for Tanguy to get him.”
Chelsea fans will have some concerns over the injury nightmares that Neto has had to deal with since he made his move to the Premier League.
The Blues have endured more than their fair share of injury problems in the last few years, with the likes of Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia unable to make the desired impact last season.
Nevertheless, the winger is certainly a step up from the players they currently have in that position, with both Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk yet to establish themselves as guaranteed starters over the last 12 months or so.
It remains to be seen what the addition means for youngster Tyrique George, after he made an impact on the first team during their pre-season tour of the United States.
A loan could well be the best solution for him to get him regular gametime this season.
