Jan-Carlo Simic has revealed that he received a shirt from Paolo Maldini, wishing him good luck after he left AC Milan for Anderlecht.
Simic posted on his Instagram story to show that he had been gifted a signed jersey by the legendary defender, with the following message: “To Jan-Carlo, I wish you the best. You deserve it! With love, Paolo Maldini.”
The Serbian centre-back added a comment as part of the post: “A childhood dream come true. Thank you idol.”
It was a sad ending for Simic after the 19-year-old made his first team debut last December at a time when there was a crisis in the rearguard, and he scored against Monza off the bench while making six appearances in total under Stefano Pioli.
With his contract expire in June 2025 and amid stories of a difficult renewal it emerged that Anderlecht had found an agreement with Milan over a permanent transfer for Simic, something which was confirmed not long ago
