Athletes from different sports can always become political and decide to support what ever political party they want. We know folks like Stephen Curry and LeBron James who are known democrats. A reporter recently asked Angel Reese if she could offer an opinion on Presidential candidate Kamala Harris and her response may raise a few eyebrows. There are already those who jumped and think that public figures need to always lead by example and be a voice for the masses during such an important time in American history, But there are also those athletes who don’t want to do that at all and focus on their careers. Angel Reese is choosing to do that and she is well within her right to do so.
But some may not understand this and they will still try to put her on one side with her most recent statements. Democrats likely could be the ones who criticize Angel Reese for not vehemently opposing Donald Trump. While Trump supporters will likey celebrate thinking Angel Reese may be on their side. But the reality is way more nuanced than that because there are those who are simply apolitical. Here’s what Reese responded: “I haven’t been able to tap a lot into the political election… so, I’m not that educated right now, but [I] just continue to learn. Everybody go out there and vote. I commend that, and I just tell a lot of people to go out there and vote because we need it for this election.”
Despite the non- answer she gave, Angel Reese also showed that she does want to give peope a positive message by urging everybody in the country to vote. At least on that aspect of her response, people might not give her as much of a hard time online. Acknowledging you are also not ‘in the loop’ of what is taking place politically is also important and it should be acknowledged. But this response has certainly opened up a debate between Democrats and Republicans.
