2024 Summer mercato comes to an end: Milan signed 6 players this summer and said…..see more

After finishing 2nd in the previous Serie A season, Milan said they would be having a different type of mercato, focusing on specific roles instead of signing 10 players like they did last summer. And indeed, it was more targeted, with 5 new players joining, and 1 player getting bought out.

In attack, Álvaro Morata was the first player to join – arriving from Atlético Madrid, and Tammy Abraham was the last player to arrive – coming from Roma. Only one midfielder arrived in this window, with Youssouf Fofana joining from Monaco after a long negotiation, while in defense, Emerson Royal – arriving from Tottenham – and Strahinja Pavlović from Red Bull Salzburg join Álex Jiménez whose stay at the club became permanent after an initial loan spell from Real Madrid.

Milan were struggling to sign new players towards the end of the season due to the high number of foreigners they have in the squad (in contrast to having very few Italians), and so to get new foreigners they had to sell others. The Diavolo were trying to offload Ismaël Bennacer on deadline day and get Adrien Rabiot instead on a free-agent deal, but the Algerian ended up staying at the club.

The Rossoneri also made several signings for Milan Futuro, the new U-23 team, and there will be players who will also be involved for both sides. The biggest signing is perhaps that of Silvano Vos who joins from Ajax.

The full list of arrivals can be found below, with the transfer fees as they were reported in the media:

In the exists department, Milan only managed 3 permanent sales: Charles De Ketelaere was bought out by Atalanta, while Daniel Maldini went to Monza and Jan-Carlo Simić to Anderlecht. The rest of the players who left all went on loan deals, some with options to buy. The Diavolo also failed to find new homes for players who are out of the project like Divock Origi and Fodé Ballo-Touré.

The full list of exits can be found below, with the transfer fees as they were reported in the media:
