AC Milan are eying a January move for Chelsea reject Carney Chukwuemeka as the midfielder may not get munites at Stamford Bridge.
According to Fichajes, Carney Chukwuemeka is a definitive target for AC Milan in the January window. The Rossoneri are eager to snap up another one of Chelsea’s unwanted stars and view the 20-year-old as someone who would improve their squad.
AC Milan have built recent success at the back of some players that were deemed unwanted by other clubs. Their transfer strategy in recent years have focused on bringing in those stars that are financially viable and looking for a good enough platform, while they have engaged with Chelsea for quite a lot of players.
From Fikayo Tomori or Olivier Giroud to Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic, Milan have brought in Chelsea rejects in numbers and could be in the mood for another such transfer. The Rossoneri are angling a January move for Carney Chukwuemeka, with the 20-year-old Chelsea ace not a big part of the club’s current plans.
Milan feels Chukwuemeka will improve their current squad and are keen to snap up the 20-year-old Chelsea ace before other rivals swoop in. Hence, they are willing to put in the work early before agreeing on a move in January to bring the midfielder. Whether they are planning on an outright purchase of the former Aston Villa star or an initial loan remains to be seen, although it could be the latter, potentially with a purchase option.
Chelsea were a bit surprised that Chukwuemeka stayed at the club despite having a considerable reputation in the market. The midfielder has barely played for the club since signing from Aston Villa in a big deal then, as injuries have played it;’s part in restricting his development, as the Blues are ready to part ways at the earliest.
Chukwuemeka was reporteldy available for a transfer and would have opted to go out of Chelsea had a proven opportunity presented itself. Manchester United and West Ham were keen, although another club came through with a credible offer in the summer. The latter could still angle a January move, as the Hammers could challenge Milan for the 20-year-old’s signature.
Chukwuekema’s wages could have proved to be a stumbling block in leaving Chelsea in the summer. Hence, it’s safe to assume that the Blues might have to sanction a six-month loan deal to get him out of their books and potentially help increase his value at a club where he could get regular game time.
