Theo Hernandez’s future at AC Milan: Hang between…..see more

AC Milan find themselves at a crossroads regarding the future of star left-back Theo Hernandez. The French defender, who has been a key player for the Rossoneri since his arrival in 2019, is currently in the spotlight due to both his contract situation and recent on-field controversies.

Fantacalcio report how Hernandez’s current contract with Milan runs until June 2026, but discussions about a potential renewal have already begun. The player is reportedly seeking a significant salary increase, asking for €8 million per season – double his current €4 million annual wage. This would make him the highest-paid player in the Milan squad, surpassing even Rafael Leao.

However, Milan’s wage structure and financial constraints make meeting these demands challenging. The club is reportedly willing to offer around €6-7 million per season, including bonuses, which is in line with what they pay their top earners.

The situation is further complicated by interest from other top European clubs. Real Madrid, where Hernandez began his professional career, Paris Saint-Germain, where his brother Lucas plays, and Bayern Munich have all been linked with the talented full-back. Bayern, in particular, may be in the market for a left-back next summer if Alphonso Davies departs.

Adding to the uncertainty is a recent incident during a match against Lazio, where Hernandez and Leao were criticized for not joining the team huddle during a cooling break. While the player has since apologized, the episode has raised questions about his relationship with new manager Paulo Fonseca.

Despite these challenges, Milan’s management, including former star Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his new executive role, have emphasized the importance of retaining key players like Hernandez. They view him as integral to the club’s future success and are keen to find a compromise.
