USMNT star Christian Pulisic is reportedly set to be benched by AC Milan following his 10,000 mile round trip to take in more international duty.
The 25-year-old forward has taken on captaincy duties again for his country and remains a talismanic presence for the United States. He was called upon for friendly outings against Canada and New Zealand.
Pulisic faces an epic journey back to Italy before linking up with his club side again, with his return to Europe set to be completed just 48 hours ahead of Milan’s next outing in Serie A. With that in mind, Gazzetta dello Sport claims that bench duty beckons for the creative American.
Rossoneri boss Paulo Fonseca is eager to keep Pulisic fresh for bigger tests to come, with a Champions League home date with Liverpool next on the agenda. No risks will be taken in a meeting with Venezia on Saturday.
Pulisic did rush back into action after one international break last season, in order to grace a derby date with rivals Inter, but put in one of his most disappointing performances of the campaign. He will now be rested, with his goal account for 2024-25 already being opened as he tries to match or better his personal-best return of 15 efforts from last term.
