Arne Slot takes charge of his first Champions League match as Liverpool manager when the Reds travel to AC Milan on Tuesday.
Slot has made an excellent start to life in the Anfield dugout, winning all three of his matches without conceding a goal, most impressively thrashing Man Utd 3-0 at Old Trafford before the international break. Milan, meanwhile, have made a disappointing start to the new Serie A campaign, taking just two points from three games so far, drawing 2-2 with both Torino and Lazio either side of a 2-1 loss to newly-promoted Parma.
Three AC Milan vs Liverpool predictions
AC Milan 0-2 Liverpool (9/1 with Boylesports)
Liverpool have won all three of their games under Slot so far and also did the double over AC Milan during the 2021/22 Champions League group stage.
Mohamed Salah to score anytime (odds TBC)
Mohamed Salah has been on fire at the start of this season, notching three goals and three assists in three appearances so far.
Away clean sheet (11/5 with Boylesports)
Liverpool are yet to concede in three competitive games under Slot.
As mentioned, AC Milan have made an extremely disappointing start to the new Serie A season and already trail leaders and arch-rivals Inter by five points. Now, the seven-time Champions League winners must turn their attention to European matters as they look to emulate past successes, or at least go deep into the knockout rounds as they did two years ago.
But the Rossoneri know exactly how hard the task ahead of them is. Even aside from Liverpool’s excellent form under Slot so far, the Reds did the doubt over Milan in the Champions League a few years ago, while the 2007 final win in Athens is their only competitive win over the Merseyside club to date.
AC Milan team news
Alessandro Florenzi, Ismael Bennacer and Marco Sportiello are long-term absences for AC Milan, while Alvaro Morata and Malick Thiaw are both out until the end of the month with respective muscle and ankle injuries.
Liverpool team news
Alexis Mac Allister is a doubt after picking up an injury during the international break, but Curtis Jones has returned to training and could feature. Slot will also be hopeful of having former Juventus forward Federico Chiesa in the squad after he spent the international break training and building up fitness.
AC Milan vs Liverpool head-to-head
These two sides have only met four times previously, with each winning a Champions League final against the other, while the Reds did the double over Milan in the 2021/22 Champions League group stage.
