Just In: Milan put their foot down as Mayor Sala resumes… see more

AC Milan and Inter’s joint project to build a new stadium in the San Siro area re-emerged on Friday, following a meeting with the mayor Beppe Sala. However, as a report highlights, this is not really a suitable solution either.

The stadium pursuit has taken many turns in recent years and Friday’s update was just another example of this. However, Milan president Paolo Scaroni immediately came out and said that the number one priority remains San Donato and not San Siro.

Todya’s edition of Corriere della Sera, as cited by MilanNews, echoes the words of Scaroni and highlights the fact that Beppe Sala can’t even get the city council on board. In fact, since the hypothesis re-emerged, there has been harsh criticism from the ‘Majority’ and the environmentalist party.

The chaos that is Italian politics thus continues and it seems likely that Milan will continue to focus on San Donato. The benefit of the San Siro area, however, would be that the infrastructure for transportation already is in place there.

In the meantime, frustration also seems to grow among the top workers at UEFA as Italy will host the Euros – along with Turkey – in 2032 and there are few stadiums that comply with the regulations.
