Liverpool face AC Milan tomorrow in what will be a barnburner of a UEFA Champions League tie for the opening week of the revamped competition.
Having suffered a historic defeat last weekend against Nottingham Forest, Liverpool will be keen to return to winning ways ahead of tomorrow’s clash at the San Siro, where Milan’s Christian Pulisic is up for the occasion.
With the Rossoneri set to welcome Fikayo Tomori back to the starting XI, Liverpool are set to face a refreshed Milan side who are coming off the back of a 4-0 Serie A win against newly-promoted Venezia.
Yet Milan could be without one star name to face Liverpool tomorrow night.
Malick Thiaw missed AC Milan training ahead of Liverpool clash
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan defender Malick Thiaw did not train today, with the Germany international now expected to miss tomorrow’s Champions League tie against Liverpool.
Noted by Scouted Football as a ‘perfect’ modern-day defender, Thiaw is regarded as one of Milan’s most exciting prospects and a player with a huge future having made the move to Italy from Schalke 04 back in 2022, with Liverpool snubbed by the 23-year-old.
With Thiaw expected to miss tomorrow night’s game due to injury, Liverpool now have a big source of inspiration behind them in their mission to get a result at the San Siro, something Arne Slot will be determined to pull off after Saturday’s shock loss.
And although Liverpool will be without Harvey Elliott and potentially Federico Chiesa, the Reds have more than enough to get the job done against Milan, who before their 4-0 win on Saturday against Venezia had looked poor this season.
