With just two weeks until the start of the 2023–24 seasons in Spain and France, PSG has made it clear that they would be open to a deal this summer to prevent Mbappé from departing on a free transfer next year. However, the two clubs have not yet held discussions.
Although there is still optimism, insiders have told soccerhuz.com that Madrid is prepared to complete a deal should PSG demonstrate their willingness to begin talks.
The Spanish powerhouses would give Mbappé a six-year contract that would expire in 2029 while knowing that a deal would cost over €200 million, considering possible variables. Madrid wants Mbappé’s contract to be the same as that of Jude Bellingham, who joined the club this summer in a deal worth €103 million plus an additional 30% in variables.
Along with Vinicius Junior, the club believes that Mbappé and Bellingham are the two athletes best suited to lead its new athletic initiative. Madrid’s administrators have wanted to use Karim Benzema to open the new Santiago Bernabeu stadium, which is scheduled to be finished in December of this year.
