Gazzetta: Milan and Inter disagree to San Siro redeve…. see more

Both Milan and Inter are not in favour of the latest plan to redevelop the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in San Siro, but neither side have yet come forwards with a definitive alternative, according to Thursday’s updates from La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Thursday’s update suggests that both the Rossoneri and the Nerazzurri are not keen to pursue the ‘WeBuild’ project, promoted by the local authorities and mayor Giuseppe Sala, which would have seen the old stadium in San Siro redeveloped ahead of the 2032 European Championships.

There are several potential reasons why the Milanese clubs do not want to push forwards with the WeBuild plans, one of which is the costs that it would incur, and also the impact on matchday attendances while the works would have been carried out.

La Gazzetta dello Sport indicates that both Milan and Inter would prefer to build a new stadium close by to the current San Siro site, but there are currently no definitive plans in place.

If a proposal for a new ground in San Siro were to be put forwards, it would still likely take many years before ground is broken, largely due to administrative and bureaucratic reasons.
