Benjamin Sesko: Joining Milan in the summer…see more

RB Leipzig’s Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko praised Juve’s defence ahead of their Champions League match on Wednesday. Speaking in a recent interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato), Sesko shared his thoughts on his career development, the upcoming match against Juventus, and his future prospects.

Reflecting on his journey, Sesko said, “Here, as well as in Salzburg, I have a lot of space and time to make mistakes. When I arrived in Salzburg at 16, it was a giant step, both as a player and as a man. For the first time, I was away from home, in a new country, with a different culture, where they obviously speak a different language. I had no choice but to adapt, and I had to do it in football terms too, but it was a very important experience that shaped me for Leipzig.”

Looking ahead to the match against Juventus, Sesko acknowledged the challenge: “Every game is a stimulus, but Juventus and Italian football, in particular, are famous for their great defensive solidity. The Bianconeri are very strong in that, even impressive, but they also have a lot of quality and unpredictability in attack. However, we have clear ideas, we know how to hurt them.”

He added, “Italian football has always been one of the best in Europe. In the international arena, your players have great experience, which is why the matches with Juve and Inter are particularly stimulating for us. But we want to do well.”

When asked about the market rumors linking him to Milan, Sesko remained focused on his current club: “I don’t comment on market rumors. I’m happy in Leipzig, and that’s why I recently extended my contract. I want to achieve great things here, Leipzig wants to grow a lot, and I want to accompany the team on this intriguing journey.”

Sesko also discussed his playing style and ambitions: “I don’t like to compare myself to others, I am Benjamin Sesko, I have my own style. But I can and want to grow a lot more. I promise I will score more than last year because I’m growing and therefore I have to perform better, reaching higher and higher levels.”

He emphasized the importance of being a well-rounded player in modern football: “In modern football, you need everything. Maybe in the past, it was enough to excel in one aspect. Today, however, you have to be complete if you want to stay at these levels. Running speed is important, but even more important is the speed of thought. Football is so fast that you have to read the actions immediately to be able to exploit your physique as well.”
