The investigation into leading ultras from AC Milan and Inter has dominated the newspapers in Italy, but there is still some confusion as to what the punishments might be if the clubs are found guilty of any involvement.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com) writes this morning, after the arrests on Monday the federal prosecutor Giuseppe Chiné has already asked the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Milan for the investigation documents not covered by secrecy in order to then verify conduct relevant to the sporting system by Inter, Milan and their members.
Paragraph 1 of article 25 of the Sports Justice Code on the prevention of violent events states: ‘The club is prohibited from contributing, with financial interventions or other benefits, to the creation and maintenance of organised and unorganised groups of its supporters, except as provided for by current state legislation’.
Meanwhile, paragraph 10 speaks of members, who ‘are prohibited from having relationships with representatives of groups or groups of supporters who are not part of associations that have agreements with the clubs.
‘Said agreements, stipulated according to the conditions set out in art. 8 of Legislative Decree no. 8/2007 converted into law with Law no. 41/2007, must be validated by the Federation.
