The saga of the day involves the Mayor of Corbetta Marco Ballarini and AC Milan striker Alvaro Morata, with the former now commenting on the issue.
Morata chose to buy a house in Corbetta, a town in the Milanese outskirts near Magenta, not far from San Siro and on the road to the highway to reach Milanello. There had been talk that he lived there and a photo with a fan from a bar there added to it.
Then the Mayor’s outburst confirmed it as Ballarini announced the news in an Instagram post, not realising the problems that this would cause for the Spaniard.
“The champion is our new fellow citizen. Here We Go! The Milan striker is finalising the paperwork for the transfer to his new (wonderful) home in our city. I am a huge Inter fan, but I am happy to welcome Alvaro Morata to our great Corbetta family!”
Morata in his response made it clear that disclosing the area he lives in is a breach of privacy and he suggested that he will now have to move away from Corbetta.
Ballarini spoke to Lunch Press on Radio Rossonera to give his take on the situation and to explain why he thinks that there has been an overreaction to his initial post.
“I haven’t heard from Morata, if he were to change house I would be sorry. However, it seemed like a slightly exaggerated reaction that brought me a lot of criticism,” he said.
