Lukaku spent the entire season on loan at Inter Milan, and Chelsea is eager to get rid of him this summer.
Lukaku preferred to stay at Inter, but the Champions League champions from the previous year were unwilling to pay Chelsea’s asking price.
In response, Juventus, a fellow Italian team, started negotiations to recruit the striker for Belgium.
Juventus fans protested the club’s attempt to sign Lukaku, and the 30-year-old appeared to indicate that the transfer was off.
But Chelsea and Juventus are reportedly back in contact, and the Blues have reportedly been presented with a trade proposal that includes Dusan Vlahovic.
Chelsea rejected Vlahovic in July but are now reconsidering the swap, which would also include the west Londoners paying a fee to Juventus.
Lukaku didn’t travel with Chelsea on their preseason tour and doesn’t seem to be in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
Since moving back to west London in a significant £97.5 million transfer in 2021, his second season at Stamford Bridge has been something of a nightmare.
Vlahovic, a 23-year-old striker for Juventus, has played in 63 games for the team and has scored 23 goals while also contributing six assists.
