Gazzetta: Assessing referee Luca Pairetto’s performance in Fiorentina – Milan last night

La Gazzetta dello Sport, in today’s print edition, discussed the refereeing decisions from Fiorentina – Milan, the match from the 7th round of the 2024-2025 Serie A season, which took place yesterday evening at the Artemio Franchi stadium and ended 2- 1 for the hosts.

A rating of 6, a full pass, for the referee Luca Pairetto from Turin, according to the newspaper.

This is because he reviewed the first penalty on the monitor after an on-field review with the VAR and called the other two from the field. He lost a bit of clarity towards the end, but it’s understandable given the difficulty of the match.

Regarding the key refereeing incidents from Fiorentina – Milan, all three penalties awarded by Pairetto were correct. In the first one for Fiorentina, after reviewing, Theo Hernández slightly hit Dodô’s sole. There were protests from Fiorentina for Fikayo Tomori entering the area, but it did not affect the rebound: the rule has changed, so there was no reason to retake the penalty.

Theo on Colpani, Ranieri on Abraham: all correct decisions. The two penalties for Milan were for a foul by Luca Ranieri on Tijjani Reijnders and, similarly to the first, for Moise Kean kicking Matteo Gabbia, who had anticipated him.

These decisions were also correct. Finally, two cases: again Theo Hernández on Andrea Colpani and again Ranieri, this time on Tammy Abraham. There was no foul in either situation, and the decisions were correct, as relayed via PianetaMilan.it.
