JUST IN: Jose Mourinho could rival Zlatan Ibrahimovic in race to sign….see more

Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho could be ready to battle with AC Milan senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the race to land one Manchester United star in 2025.

Jose Mourinho made his hotly anticipated return to management back in June with Fenerbahce after he was sacked by Serie A side Roma in January.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, meanwhile, called it time on his legendary playing career in 2023 after his second spell with AC Milan before making his return to the San Siro.

The 43-year-old former Milan striker took up a senior advisor role at Serie A outfit in 2023 and has been working behind the scenes for the Italian team.

Both Mourinho and Ibrahimovic have shared a special relationship in football after working together at Inter Milan and Manchester United.

Ibrahimovic played under the ‘Special One’ at the San Siro with Inter Milan before linking up with Mourinho for the second time at Old Trafford.

Turkish outlet Sabah now reports that Jose Mourinho could be reunited with a Manchester United player that he brought to Old Trafford during his tenure.

Mourinho was in the Old Trafford dugout when United completed a move for Victor Lindelof from Portuguese side Benfica in 2017.

Victor Lindelof has only made one appearance for United this season after he came off the bench in the 0-0 Premier League draw against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

The 30-year-old Swedish centre-back missed the opening weeks of the season due to injury and has fallen down the pecking order at United under Erik ten Hag.

Victor Lindelof is at the tail end of his United contract and the Red Devils defender will be a free agent at the end of the 2024-25 Premier League season.

The Sweden international will be able to speak with clubs outside of England in January and sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of a 2025 summer move.

According to Sabah, Fenerbahce are monitoring Lindelof’s situation at Old Trafford and could reunite the United centre-back with Mourinho.

The publication added that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still interested in his fellow countryman and ‘aims’ to add Lindelof to the AC Milan squad in 2025.

Lindelof has made 260 appearances for the Red Devils and lifted an FA Cup and a League Cup during his spell at Old Trafford.
