AC Milan could reinforce the team with a left-back in January and one of their targets played against them yesterday: Giuseppe Pezzella. Indeed, the management got a close look at the Italian international.
Theo Hernandez has been working overtime in the last few seasons, with Milan lacking a proper deputy, and the negative effects of this have been obvious. As such, the Rossoneri could bring in a left-back in January, provided there is a good deal to make.
According to MilanNews, the management kept a close eye on Empoli’s Pezzella in the 3-0 win last night. It perhaps wasn’t the 27-year-old best display, but being Italian and reliable on the left-hand side, he fits the profile rather perfectly.
Milan have been linked with the player for several years as they tried to sign him from Parma in 2021, when he ended up joining Atalanta. Pezzella has started all games but two this season and would most likely be relatively cheap, around €5-10m.
In our recent bonus on Substack, we discussed the January window and how Milan can free up some funds on the accounts to sign a midfielder and a left-back.
